NFG Staff Profile: Liisa Fetig

For six years, Liisa Fetig has worked at Network for Good to build innovate solutions for nonprofit organizations. Currently, she works with the Product and Development teams to build and maintain our all-in-one solution. She works directly with customers to ensure that their needs are being met with our products, that the product delivers on its value promise, and explores what the new features, opportunities, and types of customers are on the horizon.

Q&A with Liisa Fetig, Product Manager

What does a product manager do?

My current focus is on our fundraising pages product as well as the platform that powers our donation processing and disbursements. As a product manager, I make sure that our backlog of product improvements and bug fixes is prioritized, and that we deliver solutions that meet our customers’ needs. I’m also continuously looking at what we can build next. In my role, I work very closely with our sales, marketing, and success teams to make sure I have a good pulse on our nonprofit customers, prospective nonprofits, and what the industry is doing.

What’s your experience with nonprofits outside of Network for Good?

I’ve been a volunteer for various nonprofits throughout my life. I have volunteered for several animal organizations as well as for a few LGBTQ programs.  I am very passionate about caring for animals, making sure there are sustainable pet practices, and making sure that people are educated about how animals impact their environment. I’ve done everything from volunteer at galas to moving things around warehouses to writing content for appeals to data entry to playing with (or “socializing”) rescue animals to organizing and leading groups for LGBTQ youth and their allies.

What attracts you to nonprofits?

I really like being able to empower nonprofits to affect these areas that don’t always receive a lot of focus or just other places where there is more good needed.

What do you enjoy most about the work you do?

I really enjoy that there is always a new challenge. There’s always a new way that we can innovate different solutions for nonprofits. I really like that I can connect directly with both nonprofits and donors, hear their feedback, and make a tangible difference in their lives.

What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work?

It would either be to spend time relaxing at home with my cat, Charlotte, or to play board games with friends. My favorite board game is Betrayal at House on the Hill in which a group of people get together and explore a haunted house. It’s set like a B-horror movie in which you have a lot of different stereotypical characters who get caught up in a horror situation. You explore the house by drawing different tiles, and you either find different items that can be used later in the game or there’ll be events that are triggered, and you have to roll to see what happens. At a certain point after exploring the house, a “haunt” occurs and the entire game shifts from a cooperative game to adversarial where one person is the traitor and everyone else is playing the game against that person.
