Network for Good Wins Breastfeeding-Friendly Workplace Award

Network for Good is excited to be named a recipient of the Breastfeeding-Friendly Workplace Award, one of 32 Washington, DC-area companies to receive this honor!

The Breastfeeding-Friendly Workplace Awards recognize workplaces that go above and beyond the legal requirements for accommodating breastfeeding employees.

“The businesses receiving these awards serve as role models for our region. Many of the awardees were nominated by their employees, who wished to recognize the supports they receive,” says Dr. Dana Silver, Past President of the Maryland Breastfeeding Coalition.

Network for Good employee and new mother Courtney explains:

“Network for Good’s breastfeeding support is outstanding for any company, but is especially impressive for a smaller company. We had a little bit of a baby boom last year and there were 5 pumping mothers, myself included, at the same time. Rather than feeling stressed and like we had to compete for time to pump, we were able to use Network for Good’s official Mothers’ Room Outlook calendars, Slack support group, and the 3 different spaces available to easily collaborate to come up with schedules that worked for everyone. Our lactation room is one of the best I’ve seen complete with extra multi-user pumps, storage bags, leak pads, nipple cream, and more.

My son just turned 1 and I was able to continue breastfeeding him since returning to work (after a 16 week paid maternity leave) without it jeopardizing my job performance.

This is because of both the resources available, as well as the culture of support Network for Good has created among managers and throughout the company for breastfeeding mothers. I feel very fortunate, and even a little bit spoiled, to have been able to be working for Network for Good while having my first child because I didn’t have to stress as much about balancing my new mother responsibilities and my work responsibilities like many other working mothers because Network for Good offers the flexibility and support to prioritize and balance both roles.”

mothers roomNetwork for Good takes great pride in helping its employees achieve work-life balance. We provide 40 paid business days of parental leave after the birth or adoption of a child. Women giving birth are also eligible for additional leave through our short-term disability program.

Upon returning to work, we provide mothers with access to our Mothers’ Room with multiple private lactation stations for pumping at work. Our Mothers’ Room is private, well-equipped, comfortable and inspiring! We offer breastfeeding and pumping educational resources, positive support and access to supplies.

We are thrilled to offer these benefits to our working mothers and understand the importance of continuing a breastfeeding relationship with new babies.

Network for Good is so proud to support breastfeeding mothers and all new parents!
