Cause Marketing


Inspired by the threat facing the polar bear and its habitat, Coca-Cola and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) have joined forces to help protect the polar bear’s home. As part of the Arctic Home effort, Coca-Cola committed $2 million over 5 years and has agreed to match up to $1 million of consumer donations made during the Winter 2012-2013 campaign.

The We Can Be Heroes campaign is raising awareness and funds for three nonprofit partners, Save the Children, International Rescue Committee and Mercy Corps, who are delivering aid for famine relief in the Horn of Africa. DC Entertainment will match donations 100%, and up to 75% of the purchase price from We Can Be Heroes products will go to saving lives.
Disaster Relief Giving


From the earthquake in Haiti to the tsunami in Japan to Hurricane Sandy, Capital One makes it easy for cardholders to make donations to charities working on the front lines of disaster relief. Through the Capital One No Hassle Giving Site, cardholders can donate to any of over 1 million charities and Capital One generously covers all transaction fees so 100% of donations reach the designated charities.


In response to Hurricane Sandy, LinkedIn ran a social media-driven disaster giving campaign benefiting nonprofit partner Covenant House to help kids in Atlantic City displaced and severely impacted by the hurricane. LinkedIn leadership matched donations dollar for dollar (up to $100,000) to double the impact.



Yahoo is an important media partner during times of humanitarian disaster: the company focuses attention on the call to action via the Yahoo homepage and mobilizes users through a curated list of ways people can help. Yahoo users and employees have contributed more than $10 million on Network for Good's platform to disaster response across numerous events, such as the Indian Ocean tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, the Haiti earthquake, Japanese tsunami and Hurricane Sandy.
Employee Engagement

Since 1997, BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina employees have logged more than 325,000 volunteer hours and nearly 95 percent of corporate officers (vice presidents and above) participate in volunteerism and community outreach programs. BCBSNC employees also participate in regularly scheduled blood drives, organize fundraisers to support local nonprofit groups, participate in hands-on volunteer projects and make donations to company-sponsored food and back-to-school drives.

Social Good Platform

Canvas On Demand, owned and operated by Café Press, allows users to capture their favorite moments in pictures, and create spectacular wall art for their home. Through the Community Donation Program, nonprofits can earn 25 cents for every Facebook Like they recruit for the Canvas On Demand page (up to $500) and nonprofits can also earn a $10 donation for each voucher that the organization helps sell, with no limit.

Causes.com was started in 2007 by Napster creator and Facebook co-founder Sean Parker and early advisor Joe Green to give activists tools to make change. Causes currently has more than 170 million users who have created over 500,000 causes and raised $40 million for charity. The platform utilizes Facebook's social mobility to maximize the impact of collective action. Users can create or join a cause to support an issue or nonprofit they care about and mobilize their networks to donate, recruit and share to support the cause.

Soon to launch, Challenge Builder will allow users to create and manage their own "challenges," or online competitions. These challenges can be created for any number of topics, such as sports, award shows, reality television, birth predictions, etc. Challenge Builder will also provide marketing tools for businesses to use challenges to interact with their customers and market their brand.


CrowdRise is an innovative new web platform that brings the power of crowdsourcing and the fun of social networking to fundraising and volunteerism. Co-founded by actor and activist Edward Norton, the site was created with online retailers Robert and Jeffrey Wolfe, the team behind Moosejaw.com. CrowdRise allows individuals and organizations to build personalized online fundraising campaigns to spur supporters into action.

give2gether is designed specifically for nonprofits and NGOs to set up fund-raising campaigns quickly and measure campaign performance with built-in analytics tools. The company co-founders include two professors of economics at UC Berkeley and NYU, and the platform leverages ten years of research in game-theory and social learning to guide fundraisers to create more effective and efficient campaigns.

PayPal is the faster, safer way to pay and get paid online. The service allows members to send money without sharing financial information, with the flexibility to pay using their account balances, bank accounts, credit cards or promotional financing. PayPal payments are a part of Network for Good’s integrated services, making it simple for Network for Good’s nonprofit and corporate partners to add PayPal to their sites, products and mobile applications and collect donations.

SixDegrees.org taps into the small world phenomenon to accomplish something good: it's social networking with a social conscience. Kevin Bacon started SixDegrees.org in collaboration with Network for Good in January 2007, more than 10 years after the "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" game made the rounds of college campuses. Through this web site, you can support your favorite charities by donating or creating a social fundraiser — as well as check out the favorite causes of other people, including celebrities. You can also pay it forward with Good Cards® – gift cards for charity that can be redeemed as a donation to more than 1 million charities. To date, the site has attracted over a million visitors and 8,500 people have created fundraisers. Those people have recruited tens of thousands of additional people to support their causes totaling more than $5 million in donations to over 1,500 charities (many of them small) — an impressive grassroots ripple effect of awareness.

StayClassy is an easy and affordable way for organizations to raise funds and manage donor relationships online. Based in San Diego, CA, the company develops easy-to-use web-based fundraising software for nonprofit organizations. StayClassy launched its new platform in May 2010, and now powers the fundraising campaigns of more than 2,000 non-profits.
